Pistachio 2022 crop estimation

Pistachio, which is more in demand by the farmers of the region due to the high economic return it provides to its producer, is produced in 22 cities of Turkey, primarily Şanlıurfa and Gaziantep.

Harran University (HRU) Faculty of Agriculture Lecturer Prof. Dr. Ali Rıza Öztürkmen told Anadolu Agency (AA) that pistachios are produced mostly in the USA, Iran and Turkiye, and that it is a strategic product for the country.

Öztürkmen stated that Şanlıurfa produces 42 percent of Turkey's pistachios alone and that the pistachio production areas in the city are increasing day by day.
